Using Aleja

Aleja is a place to talk, call and play with people you choose. These terms are the agreement between you and Aleja for the app, this website, and the services behind them. The privacy policy says what we hold and what we can't read.

Aleja isn't meant for children under 13. Don't make an account if that's you, and don't make one for a child.

Your account

One person, one account. Don't make extra accounts to get around a limit or a ban. You're responsible for what happens through your account, including a bot you register.

Keep your password and your recovery key to yourself. We can't read a sealed message, and we can't open your vault without the key you keep. We will never ask you to send either one.

Nests

A nest is a server you or someone else runs. If you run one, you're responsible for its invites, its roles, and the people you let moderate. A nest can stay private. Listing it in the directory means you've chosen to welcome new members.

What you may not do

• Break the law, or ask someone else to.
• Harass, threaten, or sexualize a child.
• Try to get into an account, nest, or system you weren't given.
• Send malware, or flood the service.
• Scrape people, or resell access to Aleja.

Report a message from the app. That report is sealed to the people meant to review it. A support ticket is for your account and the product, not a place to paste someone else's private chat.

Your messages

You keep the rights to what you say. You give Aleja the permission it needs to store and deliver the ciphertext, and to show the profile and nest details you chose to publish. Because messages are sealed on your device, we can't hand them back if you lose the keys.

Chats with Gemini are different. She has to read them to answer, so those chats are not end-to-end encrypted. Don't send her anything you wouldn't send a service.

Membership and eggs

Goose is a membership on an account, $6.99 a month. Golden eggs are $3.99 each and go to a single nest, and the nest's tier applies to everyone in it. Coins are $4.99 for 500. Card payments go through Stripe. Coins in the shop are not cash, and they have no value outside Aleja.

If we suspend an account

We can limit, suspend, or close an account or a nest that breaks these terms, or that we have to act on for safety. Pictures you put on a profile or a nest, which we store in order to show them, are checked for abuse. A match against known abuse imagery can close an account.

You can write to support@aleja.app to ask us to close your account.

Changes

If these terms change, the new date will be on this page. Continuing to use Aleja after that means the new terms apply. If you don't agree, stop using Aleja and ask us to close the account.
