How Aleja works, written as separate notes. Not a feed of every fix.
01 Directory
A nest is Aleja's name for a server. If the people who run it turn the listing on, it shows up with its name, description, and an invite. A private nest stays off the list.
Server directory02 Encryption
Direct messages, group chats, files and calls are end-to-end encrypted. The server stores ciphertext. Chats with Gemini are the exception: she has to read them to answer, and those chats are not end-to-end encrypted.
Privacy policy03 Membership
Goose is a membership on your account, $6.99 a month through Stripe. It raises your own limits, in every nest. Golden eggs are $3.99 each and go to one nest. Three eggs reach Tier 1 and twelve reach Tier 2, and that tier applies to everyone there. Membership is a role on the account.
